When adding a new bookmark (favorite) to the bookmarks bar, leave the “name” field empty. That way, the bookmark will be saved only as the favicon (short for favorites icon) of the website, allowing you to save space in the bookmarks bar and make more bookmarks visible.
not all websites would end up as an meaningful icon. some icons would just look like a generic page and without the names you would not be able to tell the difference between them. by the way, to easily add websites to your favs, simply drag the address from the address bar into your bookmark bar.
Indeed you are right.
For websites without an icon, you can add one or two characters or other symbols that will serve as an icon (such as these: >> , ? ). I find it helpful and easier to recognize than the name of the site.
