More and More new web apps enable us to do things that once required installation, registration, expertise and, of course, payments. The following tools will allow you to instantly video capture your screen, Share files, create a chat room, photo album, web meeting environment, or a MindMap – all within a few mouse clicks.

Instant video capture – ScreenCastle

ScreenCastle is a Video screen capture tool that works directly from your browser. To start recording your screen (and microphone) just enter the site, click the start button, choose the region to capture and press “start recording”. Once done, you will be given a link to view the video or a code to embed it into a website.

Instant file sharing – (File to Website) Convert any file into a public website. Simply choose and upload a file and within a few seconds (depends on its size) you’ll get a link to a webpage that display the file. This includes pictures, multi sheets Excel workbooks or an MS Word document with several pages. You can send the link to share the webpage and allow others to download the original file.

Some security rules

The ease of use of these web apps is also their disadvantage. When using them, consider the following security rules:

  •        Always assume that someone else (that you did not invite) is also watching.
  •        Do not upload information that you see as private or confidential for you or others.
  •        Bring into account that you might not be able to delete what you have created.

Tinychat looks kind of cool. Many in this day and age prefer microblogging, Facebook, and the like. I still prefer good “old-fashioned” instant messaging and email to communicate.
